We were just talking on the Scrapmuse board the other day what we do when we (gasp!) make “mistakes” on our layouts. I’ve done it several times….one simple misspelled word. Most of the time I know I’ve done it the minute my pen leaves the paper. Sometimes a friend will point it out. Either way, it will drive me crazy when I do it.
Other times I get a layout almost complete and then I accidentally tear something….like a rub-on that doesn’t go the way I want it to. It seems to only happen when I am almost finished too.
I for one don’t start over (well maybe in a very rare case). I either incorporate it into the design (as in a tear or rub-on malfunction) or I cover it up (as in a misspelled word).
There’s no right or wrong way…you just have to do what works for you. And the best part is that “there are no scrapping rules!” Seriously!
Make it your next “opportunity” page. You have a great opportunity to get creative a second time!
Here’s my latest layout with a “mistake” that’s been covered (behind my title words…I just used larger sticker letters to cover it).

There are alot of pretty background papers available in the scrapbook industry these days. I know sometimes they are intimidating and I’m not quite sure how to use them. Today, I want to tell you about how I designed this page and I’m really proud of the finished look.
First the laid out the background paper and to soften it alittle I spritzed it with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist and let dry. Next I found a couple patterned paper scraps and layered them with the photos I was going to use. I love adding some hand or machine stitching for some added interest to my layouts and I think it really draws everything together in this instance. I used a Bazzill Stitiching Template which really makes the work goes so quickly. Next I got out a few matching flowers and brads along with a journal tag and my page is finished rather quickly!

This month’s Mega Muse, ‘Ride On’, features papers from Sassafras Lass and Cosmo Cricket. It includes a sheet of Apple Jack chipboard banner stickers. I had so much fun using them on my pages. Here is one of my favorites.

are you ready for some new scrappy goodies in that mailbox? wait until you see april’s kit! it is so amazing, bright, colorful & playful. it has so much in it…jam packed with goodies, including that candy bar!
here is one of my layouts that i created this month…

i used just a plain piece of kraft cardstock for the background. i traced a bracket piece of pattern paper (that i had just in my supplies) to create the bracket outline. i then traced the same bracket onto the pattern paper & filled up the bottom half of the page. i then adhered the abc squared banner across the top. i took buttons & sewed them onto each little banner square with black thread. on two of the buttons i adhered small tidbits from the sticker sheet (the heart & flower dot). i cut apart one of the rubon strips & rubbed them onto the top half of the bracket line- spacing them apart. place your photos in the blank area (i printed mine all 2″x2″ in size & lined them up above the banner). journal
. add your title to the black lined area (i used some chipboard letters). i added a piece of black damask material i had lying around in my stash under the title. i ran it through my zyron sticker maker (my machine broke so i had to think of other ways than sewing it on). i then added some bling to the circles…which i must say…dolls them up just right!
can’t wait for you all to get your delieveries & see your creations in the gallery!
