Lovin’ the March Kit, so YUMMY!

So I wanted to share my first layout with you that I created using this month’s kit. The kit is full of wonderfully delicious colours that mix so well together and are perfect for scrapping Spring and Summer layouts.

My layout is called “you are sooo CUTE as a GIRL”. I thought the papers worked really well with this picture of my husband from when he was little. His older sister and her friends enjoyed dressing him up, and he let them, although I think that he was under duress.

This layout was simple and quick to put together. I did a lot of edge distressing and some doodling.

Let’s Pretend (challenge)

Let’s pretend that all you have in your stash is 3 sheets of double-sided patterned paper and 1 sheet of solid cardstock. That’s it…no buttons, brads, ribbon, lace, bling, or flowers, etc. The only other things you have are cutting tools, adhesives, ink, stickles, and pens. And of course your photos. Let’s see what you can do with them. Anyone who takes this challenge and posts a link in the challenge forum by March 31 will be entered in a drawing for an embellishment RAK from me.

These were the three PPs I started with. They’re part of the new Brook line from Crate.

This is what I did with them.

mini albums!

mini albums! i love giving them as gifts to friends & family…sometimes i even make one for myself. there are so many different forms of mini albums & the there is no limit to what one can do! i keep all mine in a little basket on a shelf in my living room so i can just grab & gaze.

a couple i’ve created…

i created this mini for my husband for father’s day. i had each of the 3 girls draw a photo & write a special little note to him. it now resides at his office. this mini was made of a layered chipboard album. i actually didn’t add anything but a couple of rub-ons & letter stickers for the front then tied it together with some ribbon. it took me all a matter of 30 minutes once i printed all the photos.

*please excuse my horrible picture placement…LOL, i use blogger on my personal blog & this is totally different

another mini that is still to this day one of my favorites that i’ve done in the past is chloe’s mini on her golden birthday. (a golden birthday is the # of the day you were born- chloe’s is the 3rd of january- and that same age- so her golden is when she turned 3). this album was featured in paper trends june/july 2008 issue. this one took some major time…it’s made from acrylic sheets & i love the see through look…however it’s more difficult to work with since you have to be cautious of what’s on the other side.

march contest

it’s March, and that means it’s time for a new contest. this month we’re having a title contest. it’s easy, all you need to do is create a layout using “LIVE OUT LOUD” as your title. how great is that? sometimes finding a title is the most difficult part of the process, but I’m doing that for you. everything else is up to you.

here’s a layout i created using using the title:

all layouts must be new and posted in the scrapmuse gallery under “march, 2010 contest“. please also link them to THIS thread in our message board so we can all admire them too. you will not only be playing for prize pack from the store valued at $25.00 (international winners will be responsible for shipping costs), but your winning layout will also be featured on our blog and in the newsletter as the “layout of the month”. the design team will select the winning layout by voting for their favorite layout based on the layout itself and by following the challenge as described. the deadline for this contest is march 31 at midnight, EST time.

Challenge #7: 1-4-3 challenge winner is…

My challenge for the Spread the Love contest is inspired by the numbers 1-4-3. These numbers will serve as a guide in creating the layout. Here’s what I mean:

1 – one word title
4 – four patterned papers (including the base if you are using a printed background)
3 – three flowers
