Here is my sneak peek for the August Kit! The versatility of this kit is just amazing and colors are so much better in real life!

Beach Baby

On this LO, I used glimmer mist to alter the color of the lace to better match my photos, and I painted the Prima lettering a hot pink to go with my beachy theme. Remember that with a little paint almost anything can be transformed into the exact colors you needed! The Doodle Bug stick with it adhesive swirls and flowers are covered with an white glitter.

Hey, everyone! I have been so enjoying creating with the August kit & would love to share a LO I made with it!

The bright summer colors just screamed “beachy” to me - and living in Florida, I have quite a few of those photos! I also got the embellishment add-on kit this month - the crystals and the beaded flower centers are from the add-on. They are limited so make sure you sign up if you want the add-on this month.

These mirrored birds from Heidi Swapp are so gorgeous!! I stamped a word onto the large one with Stazon ink and really liked the way it turned out. I also inked the edges of my chipboard letters to give them more definition and added some machine stitching to the edges of the music paper.

Congratulations to the winners of our July Contest, and thanks to everyone who created a layout for the contest.  The entries were amazing this month, and we were all inspired by the way you used paint on your layouts.  It was a tough decision, but we can now announce the winners:

We have a new contest for August, and we hope you’ll play along.  The details are listed below.

 Break Free from Chronology Contest All too often scrapbookers become stuck in a game of catch-up. This month we are going to break free from chronological order and scrapbooking events such as weddings, holidays and birthdays and focus on the everyday pleasures that are often ignored in our scrapbooks. Contest dates: now until August 31, 2008.

Requirements:

Create a page that focuses on an everyday experience and combines at least two photos taken on two separate occasions. For example, if your child is always reading books, create a page about their reading that uses photos that you have taken of them reading on different days. Layouts (8 x 8 or larger) as well as mini-books will be accepted. Maximum 3 entries per person, please.

Items must be loaded into the Scrapmuse August Contest Gallery by midnight (MST) on August 30, 2008.

The winner will be announced no later than September 6, 2008 in our forum. Designs will be judged by our current design team.

Contest is open to US, Canadian and International Scrappers.

The Prize:

One lucky Scrapper will receive the entire line (1 sheet of each pp) for each of the Black Market Paper Society papers, which include:

·          Ebony and Alabaster

·          Let it Bloom

·          Letters from Paradise

·          Lucky N Love

·          When the Weather is Fine  

All collections are double-sided and the winner will receive 28 sheets in all!

Please join me in welcoming Berta Ramsey as our Guest Designer for the month of August.  Berta lives in Northern California. She is a retired child care provider, a mother of 5 grown children, grandma to 6, and has been married to her wonderful DH for 41 years. She began scrapbooks when she was just a teenager, and has been doing this kind of scrapping for about 4 years.   It is certainly a passion of hers now!  In addition to scrapping, Berta loves camping, needlecrafts and anything to do with her family. She is addicted to chocolate, collects nativities and lighthouses. Oh, and she hates to cook and is scared to death of flying.   We’re so happy to have you as Guest Designer, Berta!
